What is a cubic yard?

A cubic yard is the volume of material which fits in space of one yard wide by one yard deep by one yard high. A cubic yard is an Imperial unit of volume, mostly used in the United States. The abbreviation used is 'yd3' or 'cu yd'.

How to calculate cubic yards?

The formula: Number of Cubic Yards = Length (in feet) Width (in feet) Depth (in feet) ÷ 27. Simply multiply the three dimensions together to find the number of cubic feet, then divide by 27 to find the number of cubic yards.

What can be measured in cubic yards?

Cubic yards can be used to measure the volume of different construction materials. For example the volume of concrete needed for a slab, patio or to cover a given area with gravel, sand, rock, topsoil, mulch, etc.

What is an online cubic yard calculator?

An online cubic yard calculator is a widget, which can be embedded to your website. It allows your website visitors to calculate cubic yards without leaving your website.

How much does a cubic yard of Masonry Sand cover?

A cubic yard is equivalent to 1.2 tons or approx. 2400lbs. This will cover 160 square feet at a 2" depth, 100 square feet at 3" depth, and 80 square feet at 4" depth.

What is Composted Manure

Composted manure is animal manure left to decompose. It can then be used as a nutrient-rich soil amendment for gardens. It no longer smells or contains dangerous pathogens. It may be made solely from manure, but most often it contains other composted materials like straw or sawdust.

“Either way, manure is high in organic matter and nutrients that are essential to plant growth,” says Barbara Shea, a master gardener with Tertill.

What is the difference between the Unscreened Fill Dirt, Mid-Grade Fill Dirt, Premium Fill Dirt?

Our unscreened fill dirt is just as it sounds—dirt in its natural state, unfiltered and unrefined. It may include large rocks and debris. Our Mid-grade fill dirt, on the other hand, has been screened to remove larger items, though it still contains debris, rocks, and sticks that are 3 inches in size or smaller. For a cleaner option, our Premium grade fill dirt is finely screened to ensure that any remaining debris is less than half an inch in size.
